555(1988)

A spate of killings of teenagers by a maniac dressed like a hippie causes a detective to check the records for similar killings. He discovers that every five years, in the fifth month of the year, for five consecutive days, the same type of killings has occurred, and the few descriptions of the suspect always match: he's dressed like a hippie. As the detective searches for the killer, he begins to have suspicions about his superior, an older man who is haunted by memories of his military service in Vietnam.

The acting in 555, considering what kind of movie this is, the acting is actually really good. Most shot on videos have some of the worst god awful acting you will see, but 555 is somewhat watchable.

This movie is pretty gory; it has some really cheesy effects though. The effects range from an awesome looking decapitation to random stabbings there cheesy purple looking blood is shooting from the wounds.

There is lots of T&A in this movie. There is lots of random nude scenes before the hippie killer comes and starts the slaying of the innocent lovers. I cant say the girls are the most attractive girls, but block out the faces and you should be fine.

Movies like this aren’t for everyone. If you don’t like really low budget cheese fest this is most defiantly not for you. But if you go in to it with an open mind I think you will have a really good time with this movie. It is one of the best shot on video movies but sadly it is one of the hardest to find, you are lucky if you see 2-3 copies of this on eBay. But if you can find this movie, snatch it up it is pure gold.

Irreversible(2002)

This, bar none, is the most depressing movie I have ever been unfortunate enough to see. The film plays “Memento” style. The movie opens with two men talking in a cell (The characters from Gasper Noe’s other film, I Stand Alone) about how the one had sex with his daughter, and then the film continues with the ending.

A scene that I cannot, No, Will not talk about because when you see it, I want you to be as horrified as I was. After that, the film plays in reverse chronological order, with the film ending with the beginning of the story. It is a story about Rape, revenge, and redemption. The film unflinchingly has a rape scene, in all its graphic brutality that lasts for more than nine minutes. The camera styles that this French Auteur uses are remarkable.

This movie cares about its characters but has no pity for them. WARNING: Do not watch if you get easily offended or if your morale values are too high. The soundtrack consists of eerie groans, crowded streets, and chaos. Monica Belluci’s role is heartbreaking in this film.

She is such a beautiful woman, its horrible to see such brutality happen to her. Vincent Cassel, the anti-hero, is Belluci’s actual husband so there is a form of realism between them. This film is, a horrible, disgusting, honest movie. Do not watch if you are in the throes of sadness.

Pieces(1982)

While playing with a puzzle, a teenager is repressed by his mother, and he kills her and severs her body with an ax. Forty years later, in an university campus in Boston, a serial killer kills young women and severs their bodies in parts, stealing body pieces from each student. Lt. Bracken (Christopher George) makes a deal with the dean of the campus, and infiltrates the agent Mary Riggs (Lynda Day George) as if she were a tennis teacher and together with the student Kendall (Ian Sera), they try to find the identity of the killer.

Pieces is not a very good movie by any means. Is it watchable? Well possibly once or twice but its far from a masterpieces. The actings is very weak, the film is dubbed over so it seems that the acting is even cheesier than it is in the native language. Everything seems over acted and people don’t really seem to worried about the grizzly chainsaw murders that have been happing.

As for the gore, did this shock and disgust people in the 80’s? The gore is really weak in this film, nothing really too special about it. There is not a whole bunch of it either.

You think possibly there could be a whole bunch of T&A(tits and asses) to save the movie well, there is some mild T&A not a ton, but it is extremely hard to see due to the film looking like complete shit.

Wait after the all of this the dvd release must be decent, right? No, this film is not easy on the eyes; the picture is really blurry and has a lot of scratches on the film. Mainly because it was just a copy of the VHS, yet when it says on the back of the DVD case that it was re-mastered, ha.

The Redsin Tower(2006)

Butchery and Carnage will Reign upon all who enter THE REDSIN TOWER. Mitch and Kim were in a long six year relationship when Kim decided to break up with Mitch. Mitch looses his mind and will do anything to get Kim back, even kill. Kim goes to hang out with some friends and they decide to go to The Redsin Tower and party. Mitch follows them the entire way there and ends up getting his ass beat at a gas station. He continues to follow them to the tower to get Kim back.

The Redsin Tower is Toe Tag Pictures first film that steps away from the fake snuff underground vibe. They did an awesome job with film and is extremely well made. All of the actors are unknown actors and all do a terrific job with all of there roles, also the effects/gore in the film are top notch as you would expect from any Toe Tag Pictures film.

The film is very different than what you would think from the trailer, so don't think that you have the entire film thought out already because of the trailer. There are tons of twist and very unique elements in this film which makes it extremely fun to watch,

It is very rare for a movie to come along that changes the world of horror, I believe that Fred Vogel's The Redsin Tower will be one of these movies. It is not another one of these PG-13 joke of a horror movie. Toe Tag is around to scare the fuck out of us and they will settle for nothing less.

Make sure to keep checking http://www.toetagpictures.com for new updates about The Redsin Tower coming to dvd.

August Underground's Penance(2007)

Has someone ever handed you a movie, not telling you one thing about it, only telling you to watch it. What if that tape was the personal home video of two sociopaths on a killing spree? This is their home movie, for their eyes-only. This is August Underground's PENANCE. The third and final film in the AU franchise Directed By Fred Vogel and Starring Cristie "Crusty" Whiles. PENANCE shows the dark decline of the two nameless killers from the previous films as they continue to videotape their madness on their path to destruction.

This is the long awaited third and final film in the August Underground trilogy. Was this film worth the wait? Yes it was worth every fucking second. August Underground's Penance starts out as the other two films(August Underground and August Underground's Mordum) did by just showing you the every day life's of the two killers played by director Fred Vogel and the lovely Cristie(Crusty)Whiles. The killers are more brutal than ever, but all good things must come to a end. Penance being the third and final film shows the downfall of killers.

If you are a fan of the other August Underground films you will absolutely eat this up. This is by far the goriest of the three, also probably the most realistic. Fred set out to make a film to shock us and he succeeded. The effects in the movie are extremely well done, Jeremy Cruise did an amazing job.

August Underground's Penance will be reviled March 30th at the Cinema Wasteland(http://www.cinemawasteland.com) convention in Strongsville Ohio. There are pre-orders up in the Toe Tag Picture shop for August Undergrounds Penance(two versions the limited to 1000 snuff edition and the regular version).

Cannibal Ferox(1981)

For what they have done MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY. Umberto Lenzi's Cannibal Ferox is said to be banned in 31 country's and be the most violent film ever made. It is very far from being the most violent film ever made, it is your typical Italian cheese film. With that it is an extremely fun film to watch. Plus the film uses the word "twat" a lot so that alone makes it a winner in my book.

Cannibal Ferox is about a brother sister duo along with there friend(the twat) that are traveling to the Amazon to displace the myth that cannibalism happens as an organized practice. In the jungle they meet two drug dealers that have been attacked by cannibals. They team up to try to leave to escape the jungle to not meet the wrath of the cannibals. They find out that Mike(played by John Morgan aka Giovanni Lombardo Radice) lied about them getting attacked by cannibals, when they really they attacked the tribe.

There is some pretty cool gore scenes in Cannibal Ferox. You get some hooks threw the tittays to some typical cannibal movies castrations. This movie is a classic I recommend it to anyone who wants to have a fun viewing experience.

August Underground(2001)

August Underground is by no mean a film for anyone, it is one of the/if not the best fake snuff film ever made. Directed by Fred Vogel, August Underground tells you about two killers in there every day life. It shows you every aspect like them going to a concert and having fun, all the way to rubbing shit in a girls cut off nipple.

Fred wanted to make a ultra realistic film, and he succeeded. The effects are amazing, every little detail is there. This film does not over show what could happen he keeps it real and what could really happen in real life.

Toe Tag Pictures have put together the ultimate August Underground DVD. There are tons of extras on this release, there are your standard trailers and photo galleries along with a introduction from director/star Fred Vogel. But this is not even scratching the surface.

First there is the documentary “Hammer to The Head: A Closer Look at A.U.” This starts of as Fred Vogel talking about the film it self and inspirations he had for the making of the film. Then it moves in to “August Underground on Location” where it goes around and shows the shooting locations that was used in the film along with some funny stories of what happed, any goofs. Thinking this would be enough? No, there is also another part entitled “August Underground behind the Brutality” where it interviews people and cast that were involved in the film and talks about the making of it and all the hard work that went in to filming it and doing all of the special effects.

The second documentary on the disc is “August Underground “Too Real For Comfort” An Outsider’s Perspective”, which it interviews various people about the first time they seen August Underground and what do they think will become of the film. They interview such people as Art Ettinger of Ultra Violent Magazine, Nick Palumbo of Murder-Set-Pieces and other various people.

There are also three commentary tracks. One with Fred Vogel, another with Fred Vogel and Ben LaBonte, and a snuff edition exclusive titled “Killer Commentary”.

Also be sure to check out the sequel to August Underground called August Underground's Mordum. There is also a third and final part to the film being released at the Cinema Wasteland convention in Ohio.

August Underground is a film that will change the horror business, Fred Vogel and Toe Tag Pictures are out to scare the shit out of you not to pussy-foot around like all the other crap that is being made today. I would love to salute Fred and Toe Tag Pictures for this amazing film they have made. Don’t expect going in to this as another one of these controversial horror films, you have no plot, no story, just pure carnage as you follow around two friend with there sick and twisted adventures. I warn you, this is one of the most sick, vile, twisted movies have/will ever see so if you don’t think you are up to it stay the fuck away or you will feel the power of the hammer.

Pig(1998)

Rozz Williams and Nico B.'s Pig is a black and white short film depicting the relationship between a killer and his victim unleashing a storm of mutilation, torture, and strangely, a bonding connection between those very two objects in the film. The film itself isn't by any means a normal picture in either the horror or art genres but it most certainly does tell an unsettling story that I'm sure many individuals could relate to watching the 23 minute short. The entire movie is metaphorical and unrealistic but it does contain some explicit homo-erotic themes along with nudity and sadomasochistic acts that maybe difficult for some people to watch.

First and for most, I'd like to point out that all of the S&M torture in the film is real, all the blood and cutting with the razor which plays a big role in the whole morale and point of the film. While it is based off personal demons the co-director and man responsible for the film being made, Rozz Williams(who killed himself shortly after the film was made), it is still a very watchable movie for everyone. It has a a considerate amount of gore even though the mutilation is real(but how much blood can a human shed, really?), it has a great style in the art department including 2 great settings, the hell-degreed desert of death valley and an old beaten up house which a serial killer of the nature examined in this film could very well live in, and this is one of the few short films I have witnessed that could be taken any way depending on the viewer. The interpretation on this particular short could be taken depending on the viewers personal demons or philosophic nature just like Rozz intended. It's a gore film that make you think yourself scared which is horror at it's best!

As for the actual dvd, theres only one release which is by Cult Epics which is also numbered and limited so the price range of the dvd is around 45-55 USD, not to say that isn't a reasonable price. The dvd is crammed full of extras including commentaries by Nico B., an extra super 8-mm test short, a Rozz Williams tribute video(on account of his suicide), Rozz's suicide note, the book used in the film made by Rozz Williams entitled "Why God Permits Evil", and a few other goodies. Overall it's an expensive but well worth it package.
